The genres of music that I enjoy listening to is Pop-Punk and Rock and my favourite artists include; Fall Out Boy, The Killers. Aerosmith, Nickelback and Paramore. I like these genres and artists because the songs have more meaning and are not commercialised like artists such as Adele and Taylor Swift. Adele's 25 has sold 2.5 million copies in the UK in just six weeks to become 2015's fastest and biggest seller globally and I find the songs that she has put on said album to be completely repetitive to what she has sung about previously. The things that artists that I like sing about is more relatable than the typical 'heartbreak'/'love' songs that artists like One Direction and Ed Sheeran sing about. Ed Sheeran was apparently the most streamed artist of 2015 in the UK, and I, however, have not listened to a single one of his songs on that album.
My older sister has mainly influenced my music tastes while I was growing up as she is a big Beyonce fan and has always played songs by Destiny's Child and Beyonce herself, I will always like Beyonce because I grew up listening to her, but my music tastes changed when I stumbled across The Midnight Beast on Youtube and became interested in the Pop-Rock genre which then developed into loving Pop-Punk and Rock.
I dislike listening to Pop, R&B and Rap, with the exception of ABBA, Beyonce and Eminem, because it the things that the artists sing about is too broad and can be basically applied to everyone. The way that the songs sound has also put me off because, to me, most of the songs doesn't sound right at all. The song "Hello" by Adele was played 7.3 million times in the UK in the week of it's release in early November, but that doesn't necessarily meant that it was liked. I, for one, listened to that song once, but found that it was too cliche and somewhat of the norm for Adele to sing about.
I listen to music that I have downloaded off of iTunes whenever I am on long journeys or just walking to different places. Sport music is typically played at work which can be alright but it is mainly England songs which isn't interesting and mainly boring. I also listen to music on YouTube and Spotify which lets me access the different music that I want to listen to, and Kerrang! Radio which mainly plays the different genres of music that I like. If last year's 26.9 billion video streams were added with the 26.8 billion audio streaming devices, such as Spotify in 2015, the figure would total 53.7 billion plays, which can be believable because the amount of times that I have streamed through audio and video can support these figures.
I listen to the Radio and watch music channels when I am in the house on my own and I just want some background music and I do listen to music on my phone. I also buy some of the CD's of the different albums that I like but I do buy music on iTunes too, and access music on Spotify.
